On June 12 at The Rutledge in Nashville, Deric will be a special guest of co-writer Eric Church in 'Deconstructed', an intimate storytellers show where Eric and select co-writers perform songs they've written and discuss the songwriting process. (Deric co-wrote the Eric Church hit "Guys Like Me", and has 2 songs on Eric's new album, Carolina). Part of CMA Music Fest 2009. While performing in Toronto last week, Deric taped an episode of Chevy Cross Canada Countdown with host Casey Clarke. Deric and Casey discussed Deric's forthcoming new music, performing acoustically, and raccoons (!?!) The episode will debut on CMT this Friday, May 29 at 7:pm, with encore airings Sat. May 30 at 11:am, Sun. May 31 at 7:pm, and Tues. June 2 at 6:pm. (All times EST).

"California Plates" was filmed live at The Dakota Tavern in Toronto during the 'First Time In A Long Time Tour'. Check out the Countdown, airing CMT on Fridays at 7 PM (EST), with repeats on Saturdays at 11: AM (EST) and Sundays at 6: PM (EST).

A favorite of fans and industry-types alike, the Eagles-esque "California Plates" was written by Deric and Chris Thorsteinson and Dave Wasyliw (of Doc Walker), and is a mid-tempo, bittersweet tale of love found, treasured, and lost again. "First Time In A Long Time" (Deric's 7th Top 10 radio single), shares the 'most-played list' with singles by Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, and others.

At the 46th annual ASCAP Country Music Awards held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN on October, 13, 2008, Deric won an ASCAP Airplay award for the song, "Guys Like Me", co-written with and recorded by Capitol Nashville's Eric Church. ASCAP country airplay awards recognize songs that achieve the highest levels of country radio airplay in the United States. This is Deric's 4th ASCAP Award.

"The Dakota Sessions - Deric Ruttan", returns to CMT Canada! The half-hour show featuring Deric performing in the intimate, hip setting of Toronto's Dakota Tavern returns to CMT this Fri., Sept. 26 at 6:30 pm (EST), 3:30 pm (PST). Deric and his band filmed the television show on a break from their First Time In A Long Time Tour, and performed 5 songs from the new album.

It's just been announced that Deric (along with Beverley Mahood and Doc Walker) will be joining legendary artist Randy Bachman (The Guess Who/Bachman Turner Overdrive) on a song that will close the show on September 8th. Watch the CCMA's live on CBC, Sept. 8, 2008, with encore airings on CMT Canada.

At a press conference in Toronto, it was announced that Deric received nominations for Male Artist, Best Album and Songwriter Of The Year (for "First Time In A Long Time", co-written with Jimmy Rankin). Deric and co-producer Brett Beavers also received a nomination for Producer Of The Year for First Time In A Long Time. The Canadian Country Music Awards will be broadcast live on CBC on September 8th.

The month-long tour covered 5 Provinces and included visits to radio, and TV appearances in Toronto (Canada AM), Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Brandon, and Saskatoon, promoting his brand-new release, First Time In A Long Time. DERIC WINS HIS FIRST CCMA AWARD!

Deric, (along with co-writers Aaron Pritchett and Mitch Merrett), won SOCAN Songwriter Of The Year at the 2007 Canadian Country Music Awards for the song "Hold My Beer" (recorded by Aaron Pritchett). While Deric has garnered 5 CCMA nominations in recent years, this is his first CCMA Award.
